Grow A Colony combat supports the colony economy rather than replacing it. The official description assigns Majors and Drones to fighting and identifies Bug Creatures and Colonies as targets that can provide more ants and Food. It does not publish a complete enemy list, health values, drops, PvP rules, or Queen death consequences. Prepare around confirmed roles, scout the live target, and keep production plus a retreat route intact.

Build a combat-ready economy

Before seeking a fight, prove repeated Worker Food returns. Read the live cost of Major and Drone Eggs and keep enough reserve to recover from a loss. Refill the Queen’s Water, because combat scouting often extends farther than a normal collection route.

Do not move every Worker with the fighting group. Keep Scavenge active on a safe route and separate fighter selection. The objective is useful only if the colony can still make units afterward.

Scout before Attack

Approach until you can identify the target label, nearby units, terrain, nest exits, and a path back. Do not assume every large creature is a boss or that every nearby colony is already hostile. Observe whether the target initiates combat, reacts to distance, or remains neutral.

Stage with Follow, let Majors and Drones assemble, and choose one target. Attack only when the Queen can retreat and the combat group will not drag Workers through danger. Cancel the aggressive order when the objective is complete or the group begins chasing outside the planned area.

Fight Bugs and Creatures carefully

The broad target class is official, but current public text does not provide a complete Dex. Community gameplay mentions threats such as a large spider and hornet- or wasp-like enemies. Treat those individual identities as community-reported until the live target confirms them.

Test a new creature with a small recoverable group. Observe aggro distance, target preference, movement, damage to your units, and the exact reward after defeat. Do not publish or plan around a drop until the current result shows it.

Handle rival Colonies

The game supports up to 12 players, and the description explicitly mentions defeating Colonies. That confirms a multiplayer conflict intent, not every PvP rule. Look for spawn protection, ownership colors, warnings, attack restrictions, and the effect of crossing another nest boundary.

Do not commit the Queen until you know whether units can fight without her in immediate danger. Keep defenders near home, preserve Worker production, and retreat after the named objective. If defeat rules are unknown, use the smallest test that can reveal targeting without risking the entire run.

Keep the Queen alive

The Queen is the player-controlled colony center. Use a nest entrance with visibility and two-way traffic. Position fighters between likely approach and the chamber, but do not plug the Worker lane. Maintain a reserve instead of sending every combat unit after one distant target.

If attackers reach the nest, cancel outward pursuits, use Follow to recall scattered units, and focus Attack on the nearest threat to the Queen. Move deeper or sideways only if the route remains open. Exact Queen health, death, respawn, and loss consequences require current in-game verification, so defensive caution is appropriate.

Recover after combat

Regroup fighters, turn off Attack, and return to a visible staging point. Count surviving units through the current interface, check the Queen, and watch at least one Worker delivery. Rebuild Food before replacing every loss.

Record the reward and cost separately. A win that gives Food but costs more replacement Food may still be strategically poor. A target that opens a valuable route can be useful even without a large immediate reward.

Avoid unsupported combat claims

Do not invent Bosses, fixed drops, damage tables, respawn timers, PvP protection, or Queen penalties from a name or another game. Queen Bee as a playable Pass does not prove a raid boss. Hornet as a playable Pass does not classify every hostile insect.

Use confidence labels for changing observations: Official for the developer’s broad roles and targets, Community corroborated for repeated current UI commands, Community reported for one detailed current walkthrough, and Needs in-game testing for exact numerical or rule claims.

Combat loop

  1. Stabilize Food and refill Water.
  2. Read live fighter costs and keep a recovery reserve.
  3. Scout the target, terrain, nearby players, and retreat.
  4. Stage Majors and Drones with Follow.
  5. Keep Workers on a safe Scavenge route.
  6. Attack one selected target.
  7. Cancel pursuit and regroup.
  8. Verify rewards, losses, Queen safety, and Food recovery.
